PETALING JAYA: After more than two months of fighting for her life, marathon pacer Evelyn Ang breath her last this morning.
Her Facebook page was updated with a post "In memory of Evelyn Ang Loo 13041973-01032018" six hours ago.
Last week Friday, family and friends were called to bid their farewell to her at the Sg Buloh Hospital and prepare themselves to send her off.
She and two other runners were hit by a driver at 4.30am at the 14km mark during the Klang City International Marathon 2017.
Ang had suffered a skull fracture with bleeding in her brain, while the two others — Amiruddin Hamid and fellow pacer Ahmad Hadafi Jus — sustained minor injuries.
Ang's husband Dennis Loo had reportedly said last month that 'she has undergone four surgeries since the accident and is now in stable condition, but is still being closely monitored at the hospital.'
He had said that Ang remained unconscious despite being off the respirator and her general condition is now stable.
The driver, Teoh Thiam Lim, 27, was charged on Feb 20 man with reckless driving causing an accident at 4.30am at Mile 2 Jalan Kapar.
He had pleaded not guilty in the Klang magistrate's court to the charge of reckless and dangerous driving under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
