Surprise item to be part of Chong Wei biopic premiere
PETALING JAYA: A surprise item on set will be part of the show by local talents during the premiere of the biopic, Lee Chong Wei: Rise Of The Legend on March 9 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
"Currently we have more than 15,000 tickets issued with the expected turnout to be around 20,000.
"We will feature a red carpet event, (singer and Youtuber) Priscilla Abby and (singer-actress) Nabila Razali will be singing live our theme song Cahaya Juara along with a suprise item on set.
"There will also be short making-of scenes, the award ceremony of the Asia Book of Records and Malaysia Book of Records and the climax would be Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei sharing his story and thoughts after the movie," the movie producer Josiah Chieng told theSun.
The movie, directed by Teng Bee, chronicles Lee's childhood as a boy with big dreams and his journey to becoming a world-class shuttler.
The premiere will be a special director's cut which runs for 133 minutes while the official movie runs, which will be released nationwide on March 15 will be for about 110 minutes.
The Malaysian Thomas Cup 1992 team members have also reportedly been invited to attend the premiere, as the storyline was also based on how Lee was inspired by that defining moment.
It was reported that the doors will open by 4pm and there will also be a lucky draw before the premiere of the biopic will be screened at 8.45pm on a specially-built 40m x 17m giant LED screen, making it the largest screening in Malaysia.
Ticket holders stand to win limited edition prizes such as 100 units of Yonex Lee Chong Wei badminton racquets, five Samsung smartphones and 30 film books.
The tickets for the premiere have been on sale since Jan 20 priced at RM88, RM108, RM128 and RM168 on www.myticket.asia.
Each ticket comes with one Lee Chong Wei: Rise Of The Legend movie T-shirt valued at RM59, one ticket to watch the shorter version of Lee Chong Wei: Rise Of The Legend at GSC, one limited edition movie poster pre-autographed by Lee as well as the cast of the movie and one movie bag.
These will be distributed at the venue on the event day with proof of ticket.
