PUTRAJAYA: Residents in Kuala Lumpur and parts of Selangor are expected to face water supply disruptions for up to three days beginning next Tuesday due to emergency repair works at a water treatment plant.
In a statement, today, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said Splash, the operator of the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) water treatment plant, would be carrying out critical equipment repair works for 10 hours beginning from March 6 onwards.
"The repair works will result in a total plant shutdown," Syabas said in a statement.
As a result, several areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Lumpur will face water cuts.
According to Syabas, Petaling will face water supply disruption from March 6 (8am) to March 7 (9pm); Klang/ Shah Alam: March 6 (8am) to March 9 (9am); Gombak: March 6 (8am) to March 8 (12am); Kuala Lumpur: March 6 (8am) to March 8 (9pm); Kuala Langat: March 6 (8am) to March 7 (3pm); and Hulu Selangor: March 6 (8am) to March 7 (9pm).
"Currently the plant produces between 800 to 820 million litres of water per day. With such a large volume the duration of water supply restoration will differ from one area to another depending on their geographical location and altitude," the state water company added.
Consumers in the affected areas are advised to store sufficient water for the duration of the disruption, preferably before March 6.
