Man nabbed three hours after robbing Russian tourist

IPOH: The quick action of a police team led to the arrest of a suspect less than three hours after he robbed a foreign tourist near Taman Dr Seenivasagam, Jalan Raja Musa Aziz here early this morning.
Ipoh police chief ACP Mohd Ali Tamby said the 42-year-old suspect was apprehended after receiving a report from the Russian man who alleged he was robbed by a man riding a motorcycle at Medan Istana Bandar Ipoh Raya at about 2am.
"Subsequently, a team of policemen on patrol stopped a suspect riding a Honda Wave for inspection at about 4.20am on the same day.
"When examining the suspect's sling bag, police recovered a Russian passport," he said in a statement here today.
According to Mohd Ali, police found a blue security guard uniform and a Huawei mobile phone which was believed to belong to the Russian tourist.
Police later detained the man and the case would be investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
