Wild boar wreaks havoc after running into mosque, worshipper injured

SUNGAI BULOH: A worshipper was injured when a wild boar attacked a congregation inside a mosque in Sungai Buloh on Tuesday night.
In the 8.30pm incident, the wild boar wandered into the mosque as the congregation gathered to perform Isyak prayers.
Imam Ungku Ahmad Hazwan Ungku Kamarudin said the wild boar charged and gored the victim and he suffered injuries on his neck.
"The congregation, shocked by the presence of the wild animal, then tried to chase it away.
"Other worshipers who were in the mosque at the time of the incident managed to chase the boar out of the mosque but it hit two motorcycles which were parked outside," he said.
He said the congregation took about 30 minutes to chase the animal out of the mosque.
The wild boar was then shot dead by one of the worshippers who had a shotgun and stayed nearby the mosque.
Ungku Ahmad Hazwan said almost the whole of the interior of the mosque and the verandah had been damaged due to the incident and the mosque officials contacted the Selangor Mufti Department to help handle the issue.
The prayers in the mosque are being carried out as usual at that part of the area was not affected.
He added the mosque officials contacted the Sungai Plong Police Station for assistance.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt S. Somu, who confirmed the incident, said a police team went to the mosque subsequently to handle the situation.
