Manny Pacquiao’s KL fight is on June 24

PETALING JAYA: Eight-division boxing world champion Manny Pacquiao (pix) has confirmed that his next fight will be in Kuala Lumpur on June 24.

His next fight will be against world champion Lucas Matthysse or Danny Garcia, after rejecting an undercard offer to face Mike Alvarado on April 14 in Las Vegas.

"I consider Garcia but there's a high possibility that it will be against Matthysse who is the WBA champion," Pacquiao was quoted by CNN as saying.

Asked why he would fight in Malaysia, Pacquiao said "because those in Malaysia appealed to also have a fight there".

Garcia, a former two-division world champ, scored a ninth-round technical knockout (KO) victory over Brandon Rios in his last bout. He holds a record of 34 wins off 20 KOs and one loss.

Mathysse is the reigning WBA welterweight world champion. He was successful in his title defence against Thailand's Tewa Kiram to improve his record to 39 wins off 36 KOs and four losses.
