FitMalaysia, best platform to cultivate healthy lifestyle

MUAR: The FitMalaysia programme, which was introduced in 2014, is the best platform to nurture a healthy lifestyle among the people.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said with the overwhelming response to the programme, it showed that the practice of a healthy lifestyle was getting more attention in the country.
"We were not only champions in the SEA Games last year, but in the region we are also the main contributor to obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
"Hence, through this medium, it helps to produce healthy and productive generation," he said in his opening speech at the Fit Malaysia programme at the Dataran Tanjung Emas here today.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, who is also Muar Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim and Johor Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Zulkurnain Kamisan.
Various fitness activities were organised at the Fit Malaysia programme, aimed at making Malaysia a sporting nation including running for (5km and 10km), cycling (10km and 30km) and aerobics.
Khairy said the presence of 15,000 participants covering various ages, from children to senior citizens, enlivened the Fit Malaysia programme this time besides proving that the community has been increasingly aware of the importance of maintaining one's health. — Bernama
