Taiwan scholarships open for application

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2018 Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) offered by Ministry of Education (MoE) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) are open for application until March 31.
The Taiwan Scholarship programme encourages Malaysian students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Taiwan by awarding each recipient tuition and miscellaneous expenses of NT$40,000 (RM5,350) each semester.
Undergraduate students will also be offered a monthly stipend of NT$15,000 while postgraduate students will receive NT$20,000 per month.
In line with the Taiwan government's New Southbound Policy, the number of Taiwan Scholarships available for Malaysians has increased from 20 to 35.
The MoE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is offered to Mandarin learners, including beginners, to study at any accredited Mandarin Language Centre in a university or college in Taiwan.
The recipient will be awarded a monthly stipend of NT$25,000. The duration of the Huayu Enrichment courses will include a summer term (June to July or July to August) or short-term classes, which may last for three months or more (up to a maximum of one year).
Apart from the Taiwan Scholarship and MoE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund Scholarship is also open for application for Malaysian students. The closing date is March 16.
Applicants should submit their applications to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia along with the required documents.
