Civil servant among 11 held in Pendang anti-drug swoop

PENDANG: A civil servant was among 11 suspected drug addicts detained in 'Ops Sarang' at a palm oil plantation in Kampung Kilang Kechil, Mukim Air Puteh here, yesterday.
District Police chief DSP Fadzil Hashim said the 29-year-old man, with 10 others were nabbed during a raid by a team from the District Police Narcotics Investigation Division, and National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) between 3pm and 7pm.
"Investigations revealed the civil servant who is unmarried, had been detained a number of times and was still under AADK supervision while the others were found positive for drugs from their urine tests," he said in a statement today.
He said 0.91 grams of heroin worth RM30 were also seized in the operation.
Three of the men are currently in police custody under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for alleged possession of drugs while the rest were referred to AADK under Section 31(1) of the Drug Dependents (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983, according to Fadzil. —
