KANGAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today officially opened the Perlis Urban Transformation Centre that offers various government and private sector services under one roof.
The Perlis UTC, located in Kampung Sena here, has been in operation since Oct 23 last year and people in Perlis and Kedah benefit from the services offered there by the various government and private sector agencies.
Speaking at the opening of the 19th UTC in the country, built at a cost of RM35.5 million, Najib said the UTCs reflected a revolutionary concept of offering government services designed for the well-being of the people.
"Imagine, it took just 10 weeks for the Perlis UTC to be ready. It is an achievement to be proud of. It is strategically located, near the wholesale market and shops.
"We use a more creative way through the National Blue Ocean Strategy to deliver the services of government departments and agencies. We give importance to not just output, but also outcome," he said to applause from the audience.
Najib was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor. Also present at the event were Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.
The Prime Minister said all government efforts, including the provision of the UTCs, were inclusive and did not marginalise any individual in deriving the benefits of development and all kinds of government assistance.
"We must ensure that all regions and states, from Perlis to Sabah, derive the positive effect in terms of development and the programmes that we implement," he said. — Bernama
