Abuse case in Pandan Perdana : Girl dies

KUALA LUMPUR: A four-year-old girl who was believed to have been abused by her mother's friend in a house in Pandan Perdana here last Monday died this afternoon at the Ampang Hospital's Intensive Care Unit where she was being treated.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Hamzah Alias, when contacted by Bernama, said the case has been classified as murder and is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Hamzah said police detained a 32-year-old local man at 1 am yesterday to facilitate investigation.
"We are now tracking down several other individuals to help in the investigation," he said.
Asked about the cause of the girl's death, Hamzah said police is still waiting for the post-mortem report before taking further action.
On Monday, a girl was reported to suffer serious bleeding in the head, believed to be the result of abuse.
The victim who was unconscious was sent to the Ampang Hospital by two local men at about 6.30pm. — Bernama
