KLANG: Family members were among the suspects arrested in a case where a woman was brutally beaten and abducted by her husband and an accomplice at Taman Klang Jaya here last Thursday.
South Klang district police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said following the incident, a special team was formed to nab the suspects.
"Police detained the husband's younger sister, 32, in Banting the day after the incident. We seized a parang in her house believed to have been used in the attack.
"We also found that she was with the suspects when they brought the victim to a clinic in Banting after abducting her before admitting her in a hospital in Seremban," he told reporters at the district police headquarters here today.
Police then arrested the sister's husband, a lorry driver in his 40's, in Banting on Saturday.
The man then led police to the husband's accomplice who was seen in the video, who was eventually arrested on the same day.
The main suspect, the victim's husband, was arrested on Monday in Parklands, here.
Initial investigations revealed jealousy was the main motive behind the attack.
The couple have been married for around 15 years and have three children.
In the 9am incident, a video that went viral showed a blue car pulling up in front of the gate of the factory where the woman works. A man then got out of the car while another man grabbed the victim and forced her into the car.
The woman was seen fighting back but was overpowered by the man as he repeatedly hit her with a blunt object.
The second man, who was seen holding a parang, then opened the front passenger seat door of the car and pushed the victim into the vehicle.
The two then bundled the woman into the car.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
Shamsul Amar added that the victim was discharged from the hospital on Monday and is reportedly in stable condition.
