Hawker charged with CBT for failing to return company's pre-paid sim cards

BUTTERWORTH: A hawker was charged with criminal breach of trust (CBT) at the sessions court for failing to return pre-paid sim card stocks worth RM97,116.40 belonging to his employer three years ago.
Muhamad Pizan Abd Raman, 37, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before Sessions judge Norhayati Mohamad Yunus.
He was charged with committing the offence by not returning the Celcom pre-paid sim cards to Syarikat Cardex Distribution Sdn Bhd, in his capacity as a sales executive of the company.
The offence was allegedly committed at No. 43 Tingkat 1, Jalan Todak 4, Bandar Sunway, Seberang Jaya, between 8.30am to 5.30pm on Jan 2, 2015.
The charge under Section 408 of the Penal Code, provides for a prison term for up to 14 years and whipping and fine, upon conviction.
His counsel R. Sivahnanthan told the court that his client worked as a burger seller and urged for a lower bail amount.
Norhayati fixed bail at RM 15,000 with one surety and set April 10 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Kamaliza Md Zin appeared for the prosecution.
