Police close in on S'gor palace imposter

PETALING JAYA: Police are closing in on a man posing as a Selangor palace official offering fake Datukships titles.
Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the state police received a police report on the matter on Monday.
"The suspect apparently posed as a Secretary of the Selangor Royal Institution and offered Datukships from the Selangor palace.
"Investigation have been initiated under Section 419 of the Penal Code, where if found guilty the will suspect could be jailed for seven years, or with fine, or both
"We advise the public to check with the relevant authorities to ensure the authentication when they are offered with such titles," he said today.
Mazlan stressed that the Selangor Commercial Crimes Investigation Department will get to the bottom of the case soon.
