DPM Zahid receives courtesy call from Saudi Prince Abdulaziz

PUTRAJAYA: The Interior Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Nayef Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the Prime Minister's Office, here, yesterday.
Ahmad Zahid said the visit, a first for Prince Abdulaziz was to discuss collaborations on security matters and foster bilateral ties between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
"We discussed several topics including joint-security and have agreed to strengthen bilateral relationships between both countries especially in matters such as anti-terrorism and cross-border crimes.
"Both countries previously have signed a 'Security Cooperation Agreement' on April 18, 2011," he said in a statement.
As Malaysia continues to value its ties with Saudi Arabia, he said the country will continue to fight cross-border crimes by emphasising on its relationship with the Middle Eastern bloc countries.
Earlier, Prince Abdulaziz also paid a courtesy visit to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman at Wisma Putra yesterday.
The 34-year-old prince is the youngest person to serve as Saudi Arabia's Interior Minister having been appointed by King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud on June 21, last year.
Prince Abdulaziz arrived on a working visit to the country yesterday. He had been received at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport by Defense Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Saudi Ambassador to Malaysia Mahmoud bin Hussein Qattan and the staff from the Saudi embassy.
He is expected to depart Malaysia on Thursday.
