GEORGE TOWN: All Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) exco members, state assemblymen including Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix) are to declare their assets on March 31.
Announcing this today, Lim said the assets declaration at the end of this month was decided after all exco members agreed to it during the state exco meeting.
He said this was also in line with state's commitment to practise what it preached to ensure a clean and transparent government.
"Even those Penang parliamentarians (MPs) are also welcomed to do so, " he said at a press conference.
Lim added he believed the state government is the only state to continue this practice after taking charge of Penang.
The declaration could be accessed at the state's official website www.penang.gov.my
The last declaration took place in 2013 as all excos, assemblymen including Lim had their assets declaration be shown to public.
In a separate political matter, Lim called upon MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai to be " brave" and have "courage" to challenge him to a debate instead of facing-off with his deputy Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
"If he (Liow) is not daring to challenge me, how will Umno respect him," he said, in reference to the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat in which the dominant BN component party plans to contest in the MCA-seat.
Lim hoped the protocol system could be adhered to and it is only appropriate for him only to face-off with Liow.
He also said the Penang government is not satisfied with the explanation given by Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd on the alleged RM22million payment paid for consultancy works in relation to the controversial undersea tunnel project.
Lim said that state has demanded them for further clarification after it was unhappy over their reply last week.
He said he was also puzzled over a report in an English daily stating Pulau Tikus assemblyman Yap Soo Huey was in "bad books" with the state.
He denied it and said the Yap had a good relationship with the state all this while.
