Police detain real estate agent offering fake datukships titles

PETALING JAYA: Police detained a 64-years-old Real Estate Agent for posing as a Secretary of the Selangor Council of the Royal Court offering fake Datukships titles.
Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the police received a police report on the forgery and fraud on Monday.
"The suspect apparently posed himself as a Secretary of the Selangor Council of the Royal Court and offered Datukships from the Selangor palace," he said today.
Mazlan said the suspect who is a local, was arrested in Shah Alam on Wednesday at 2.15pm.
"The suspect has been remanded for three days starting today," he said adding that investigation have been initiated under Section 419 of the Penal Code, where if found guilty the will suspect could be jailed for seven years, or with fine, or both.
Mazlan advise the public to check with the relevant authorities to ensure the authentication when they are offered with such titles.
It was reported that the Selangor Council of the Royal Court never issued any offer letter for the Darjah dan Bintang Kebesaran Negeri Selangor honorific title to a person named Goh Boon Leong.
Selangor Council of the Royal Court secretary Hanafisah Jais also added that a police report had been filed on the person based on the forged letter.
The fake letter also bears several false facts such as using the wrong Selangor coat of arms as well as the false name and signature of the Selangor Council of the Royal Court Secretary.
