Rosmah looks at latest development among autistic students at Permata Pintar

BANGI: The prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor today spent time to look at developments among special children studying at Permata Pintar.
The director of Pusat Permata Pintar Negara, Prof Datuk Dr Noriah Mohd Ishak said the main objective of the visit by Rosmah was to look for herself how student Izz Imil Shahrom, 6, followed the lessons provided.
"Datin Seri was impressed with the child's ability and she was deeply concerned about the child. So, she wanted to see for herself whether Izz could mingle with the others and follow lessons in class," she told reporters here today.
During the visit, Rosmah personally observed how Izz followed her lessons including how the child answered questions posed by the teaching staff and how she mixed around with the other students.
Izz, who is suffering from autism and has an exceptional ability in resolving mathematics and chemistry problems, is the youngest student at the Kolej Permata Pintar since early this year.
In view of her very young age, Izz will only study two of her favourite subjects, namely Mathematics and Chemistry.
Noriah added that the prime minister's wife, who is also the Patron of Permata, had asked her to provide a special programme to make way for the child to follow her lessons on her own without the presence of her parents.
"Currently, Izz comes with her father every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am to 4 pm to follow lessons in Mathematics and Chemistry," she said.
Noriah said that subsequently, Permata Pintar might be able to provide more opportunities to special children to receive a more proper education so that the special qualities inherent in them did not go to waste. — Bernama
