Tawau villagers find one of 2 missing Sarawak Polytechnic students

TAWAU: One of the youths who was reported missing at Tawau Hills Park forest reserve last night has been found by villagers at Mini Hydro Kampung Gudang Empat Tawau near here.
District police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the villagers lodged a report after finding Mohd Khairul Siwwes, 21, at 11.30 am.
"The victim is safe but exhausted while the search for the second victim, Hafizam Abdawah, 21, is ongoing," he said in a statement here today.
He said Khairul and Hafizam who are students of a polytechnic in Sarawak went missing last night while doing some research at Tawau Ecotourism Sdn Bhd inside the forest reserve.
The Tawau Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call from the park around 10.20 pm last night and immediately dispatched a team to the location.
The team together with 31 forest rangers at the park mounted a search and rescue operation around the area till 4.35am and resumed at 6.30am. — Bernama
