KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pix) has refuted claims by certain quarters that rental rates of the People's Housing Project (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) units around the city will be increased.
He said the existing rental and tax rates would be maintained and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had no plans to raise the rates.
He reminded PPR and PA residents not to believe to the slanderous news being spread.
"I'm not a tyrant like the DAP government in Penang, everything that the government is doing is for the benefit and comfort of the people," he told a press conference after officiating a groundbreaking ceremony for Beringin PPR multi-storey car park, here today.
Meanwhile, he said DBKL would be developing the six-storey car park, worth about RM15 million in Beringin PPR to solve parking problems in the area.
The car park to be built on a 11,130m² site to provide space for 277 parking lots, would also be equipped with a library and convenience store, he added.
"Another eight-storey car park project at Intan Baiduri PPR which has been constructed to include 387 parking lots, two futsal courts and a convenience store is already completed," he said. — Bernama
