KUALA LUMPUR: After waiting for more than 11 years, the country's number one singer, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, 39, gave birth to a 3.55kg baby girl via caesarean section at a medical centre in the capital, at 8.17am this morning.
Her husband Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, 59, said both daughter and mother were in good health.
He also expressed his gratitude for the safe and smooth labour while saying that they chose Monday for the birth of their first child as the Prophet Muhammad was born on Monday and coincidentally, the first day of the Islamic month of Rejab.
"Thank you for all the prayers and support from family members, friends, fans and media practitioners throughout her pregnancy till birth.
"For the time being, Siti needs some space to relax and concentrate on the early days of motherhood," he said in a statement posted by Siti Nurhaliza's manager Rozi Abdul Razak on the singer's official Facebook page today.
Born in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, Siti Nurhaliza tied the knot with Khalid or better known as Datuk K on Aug 21, 2006 at the Federal Territory Mosque, Jalan Duta here and shared the good news about her pregnancy last October. — Bernama
