KUALA LUMPUR: Four suspects, including a student, all aged between 15 and 18, are in police custody for investigations over a brawl outside a school in Selayang following the theft of a cellphone on Friday.
Gombak police chief ACP Ali Ahmad said today police are still looking for several students and outsiders who were involved in the brawl.
He said a viral message in the social media that one of those involved in the fight is in a coma at a hospital is untrue.
"There were two youths who suffered injuries and they were given outpatient treatment at a hospital and allowed to go home. There is no truth in claims of a victim being in a coma. To assist in our investigations, we are tracing the others who were involved in the fight." he told theSun when contacted.
Ali also said that the cellphone that was allegedly stolen is yet to be recovered.
On Friday at about 7pm, police rushed over to Jalan 5, Selayang near a secondary school after two groups of youth made up of students and several of their family members clashed over the theft of a cellphone a student had lost.
It is learnt that the student had called his older brother to help him in recovering his stolen cellphone from a schoolmate that allegedly stole it.
When the brother arrived, he was set upon by several students and outsiders.
Police urged those who were involved in the fight to come forward and assist police in the investigations.
