KUALA LUMPUR: The MH370 Response Team described a report that the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 had been discovered as 'unfounded and baseless'.
MH370 Response Team head Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said they were aware of a widely circulated report titled 'MH370 found on Google Earth'.
The team, he said, had always been guided by the views, opinions and verifications from the group of experts based in Australia.
"As such, the MH370 Response Team wishes to note that this report is unfounded and baseless," Azharuddin, who is also Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chairman, said in a statement.
It advised members of the public to refer to the response team and its MH370 website for verified and accurate reports and news relating to the missing airliner.
"The team feels that it's unethical to issue such a report," Azharuddin said, adding that the feelings of the families and loved ones of those on board MH370 should be respected.
The Boeing 777 with 239 people aboard vanished during its journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. Efforts to find the aircraft have so far proved futile. — Bernama
