Housing Scheme target achieved ahead of time

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Ministry has surpassed the Federal Territories Housing Scheme (Rumawip) set by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, said as of February 2018, the ministry has built 88,917 units of Rumawip.
"Thanks to the strong cooperation between the ministry, corporate developers and the city hall, we have able acheived the 80,000-unit target set by the prime minister ahead of time.
"Even though we have surpassed the target, we will continue with this effort as we want to ensure that residents of Greater Kuala Lumpur have the ability to own their own property," Tengku Adnan said in his speech prior to launching the latest Rumawip project, Kiara Kasih Rumawip Condominium.
He added that the figure includes projects that are under the categories of complete, in construction and development order approved.
"Of the 124 Rumawip projects approved under the ministry, 15 projects have completed construction and are ready for owners to move in," he said.
Tengku Adnan said Kiara Kasih Rumawip Condominium project will consist of 719 units and is scheduled to complete in 2022.
"Each unit measures at of 850 square feet and it will consist of three bedrooms, two bathrooms and one parking lot.
"The project also comes with swimming pool, gym, recreational areas, children playground, multipurpose hall and praying rooms for the owners to enjoy," he said.
He added that the units will be sold at RM300,000 with an average price of RM353 per square feet, some 10 times cheaper than other properties in the area.
