Lawyer claims trial to CBT

BUTTERWORTH: A lawyer claimed trial at the sessions court to three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) amounting to RM150,000 involving the purchase of a house three years ago.
The accused, Rosnah Ainon Mustafa, 45, made the plea after the charge was read to her by the court interpreter before sessions Judge Sitarun Nisa Abdul Aziz.
She was charged with CBT amounting to RM150,000 which was paid by a couple on three separate occasions, for the purchase of a house in Taman Jawi belonging to Ismail Aziz, 44.
The accused from Jalan Bukit Panchor was charged with committing the offence at No. 68 Tingkat 1, Jalan Besar, Taman Cenderawasih Indah, Nibong Tebal, on April 16 to July 29, 2015.
The charge under Section 409 of the Penal Code provides for a maximum 20-year jail term with caning and a fine if found guilty.
Defence counsel A. Premanand appealed to the court for bail to be fixed at RM10,000 in one surety for each of the charges.
He said Rosnah has three children and an ailing husband to care for.
Sitarun Nisa allowed bail of RM35,000 in one surety for all the charges.
She set April 20 for the mention.
