Mentally unstable son stabs mother

KUALA LUMPUR: A cleaner was stabbed in the chest by her son for reminding him to take his medication.
In the 7.45am incident on Sunday, the suspect in his 30's stabbed his mother, 52, at their home at Jalan Batu Bata, off Jalan Tun Razak here, and remained in the house after stabbing her.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Shaharuddin Abdullah said the suspect was a patient with mental issues and had been off his medication for almost three days.
"The victim was trying to get her son to take his medication. However, he reacted violently by attacking and stabbing his mother with a knife," he said today.
Shaharuddin said when police reached the scene and tried to apprehend the suspect, he charged at the police with the same knife.
"We had to use a taser gun and arrest the suspect," he added.
The suspect also had a stab wound on his chest, believed to be self-inflicted.
He had been receiving treatment for mental health issues in hospital.
Both suspect and victim were receiving treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
