MALACCA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today slammed the opposition saying they were only good at making empty promises, concocting fairy tales and instigating the people.
"They make a lot of promises. Ask them about the water crisis in Selangor, about the undersea tunnel project in Penang ... who is building affordable homes," he said, alluding to the opposition's weakness in in providing infrastructure for the people.
He said this at the "High Tea with the Prime Minister" event here today. At the event, Najib also launched the Barisan Nasional election machinery for the Bukit Katil state seat.
Also present were his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Bukit Katil Umno head Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam.
Najib said the opposition was also always making fun of and spreading lies about the BN's efforts to develop the country.
Giving the example of the former Sungai Besi Air Base site which is set for re-development, Najib said the opposition had lied that the project belonged to China, when in actual fact, it was Malaysian-owned.
Najib also said he recently paid a working visit to the Sendayan Air Base in Seremban and met with armed forces personnel there.
He said the staff there cried because they were happy with the comfortable housing that had been provided by the government.
"Do not believe them (the opposition) because they lie a lot and now they are influencing young children about the GST when it is with the GST that the government is providing facilities like schools and hospitals, and doing many other things," he said. — Bernama
