KUALA LUMPUR: Graduates from Tahfiz school were today told to join the 1Malaysia Training Scheme (SLIM) 2018 outreach programme, being carried out nationwide.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the programme offered training and job opportunities for its participants.
He said the curriculum modules in the National Tahfiz Education Policy , comprising Tahfiz Turath, Tahfiz Dini, Tahfiz Sains and Tahfiz Kemahiran, guaranteed the quality and future of tahfiz graduates in fulfilling the demands of the employment sector.
"These tahfiz students have added value in many other areas such as science, technology and also industrial skills," he said in reply to Ir Shaharuddin Ismail (BN-Kangar) who wanted to know the government's long-term move in providing a platform for tahfiz graduates to procure jobs.
Asyraf Wajdi said the government, through the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia, had also taken several initiatives to provide these students with opportunities to pursue higher education, such as at Darul Quran, as well as introducing the Tahfiz Malaysia Certificate (STM) for private candidates since 2011.
He said that as of 2017, 356 people had been awarded the STM, 400 tahfiz graduates had benefited from the Tahfiz Financing Scheme by pursuing studies at both local and foreign universities, and 2,288 graduates received the Tahfiz Diploma in collaboration with tahfiz centres throughout the country. — Bernama
