HERIOT-WATT University was established in 1821 and is the eighth oldest higher education institution in the UK. Its aim is to truly impact the lives of its students by providing them with good, solid and the best in education.
Recently, the university was awarded University of the Year by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) offers internationally recognised programmes, both locally and abroad, with the opportunity to complete their Degree programmes in Edinburgh.
Among them is the BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management programme, said to be a versatile undergraduate programme geared towards the integration of technology, which is exactly what the industry in Malaysia needs.
Bernard Wong Pin Hoong is a third-year student currently pursuing this course at HWUM. He is part of the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) which offers distinct yet complementary disciplines in Architectural Engineering, Biology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Surveying, and Urban Studies.
He says, "The quality of academics, the accreditation by professional bodies and the world-class learning experience has made it especially appealing to me. I believe my Degree has prepared me well; enabling me to increase my career prospects and widen my job horizons beyond the country. The course has provided me with a solid foundation to kick-start my career and what I've learnt will create opportunities for me in the industry regardless the fields of specialisation."
Bernard received recognition as Heriot-Watt University Malaysia's outstanding student candidate. He achieved the highest average grade score within the CPM/QS discipline during his first year (2015/2016) and second year (2016/2017). His fantastic grades have garnered him accolades as the best performing student across all campuses in Malaysia, Dubai and the UK.
He was also awarded "The University Prize" for outstanding merit that comes with a GBP100 (RM545) cash prize.
Bernard's experience studying at Heriot-Watt is one of many. The university has a strong track record for developing industry-ready graduates thanks to its strong links to businesses and industry pros, as well as its distinctive range of Degree programmes in specialist areas.
Visit its Putrajaya campus on its Open Days this weekend, March 24 and 25, 10am to 4pm and ask about its BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management programme, its Foundation and Undergraduate programmes, as well as other programmes and scholarships offered.
