KANGAR: The declining number of 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) recipients in Perlis is an indication that the government's effort to increase the people's income is successful, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man.
He said although there were reports that some recipients were left out of the list, the number was not big.
"There may be some who (are eligible for the aid) being left out, but actually, they are not eligible to receive BR1M because their income has increased.
"This shows something positive and we hope one day, there is no BR1M recipient in Perlis," he told reporters after handing out the BR1M payment to 1,830 recipients who do not have a bank account here today.
He said there were 40,799 BR1M recipients in Perlis this time around, from more than 54,000 previously.
In another development, Azlan advised the people to be wise and not be easily influenced by the opposition.
"At one time there was an opposition leader who said the BR1M is a form of bribe to buy votes, but now, they include BR1M in their manifesto," he added. — Bernama
