KUANTAN: The index crime in Kuantan dropped 145 cases in the first two months of this year.
Kuantan police chief ACP Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said the number comprised robbery, snatch theft and other violent crimes.
"However, cases involving theft and house break-in have increased by 10%," he told reporters at the district-level 211th Police Day celebrations at the Pahang police contingent headquarters here today.
At the event, Mohamad Noor presented certificates of appreciation to 62 police personnel, veterans, members of the public and media personnel.
Among the recipients were two staff from the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), namely photographer Mohd Faizol Ab Aziz and stringer Zafri Razali.
Meanwhile, 27 people, including media practitioners in Pahang received certificates of appreciation from state police deputy chief, Datuk Jamaluddin Kudin at the event.
Among them was Bernama's part-time photographer Zulfaidi Mohamed, who is attached with the Pahang Bureau office.
Jamaluddin said the certificates served as a token of appreciation from the police for the help and cooperation of the media in disseminating information to the public. — Bernama
