TOL to be abolished if BN wins in Selangor

KUALA SELANGOR: Barisan Nasional (BN) will abolish the Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL) imposed by the Selangor government at 51 fishing jetties if the coalition is voted back to power in the state in the 14th general election.
Selangor BN chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar said the licence would be abolished as the charge imposed was high which resulted in the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (KLIM) to spend about RM4 million for the licence.
"In Selangor alone, there are 51 fishing jetties and the federal government, through LKIM, has to allocate about RM4 million to pay the fee for the TOL," he told reporters after opening the "Gelombang Nelayan Nasional" programme here today.
Also present was LKIM chairman Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim.
Noh said LKIM has imposed the fee for TOL of the fishing jetties since the opposition took over the state's administration in Selangor.
He said the money could have been spent by LKIM for the benefit of fishermen in Selangor, totalling 5,000 people.
"It is us (federal government) that forked out money to build the jetties, give cost of living allowance and repair the fishermen's houses, while the state government just imposes charges and taxes," he added. — Bernama
