Joining the Surface family

MICROSOFT recently introduced two new models in its Surface lineup for the Malaysian market. The new devices include the Surface Laptop as well as the new Surface Book 2.
"Today, we are excited to be bringing an expanded lineup of Surface devices, which offers the ultimate computing experience with the combination of power and portability, and will inspire users to bring a new level of creativity to their work," said Michal Golebiewski, the chief marketing and operations officer at Microsoft Malaysia.
The launch was also attended by Microsoft Malaysia Retail Channel sales lead Gwendolynn Mak, and Microsoft Asia Pacific Surface Product lead Jane Dore.
Touted as the most powerful Surface device ever, the Surface Book 2 features the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors for performance and the latest Nvidia GeForce GPUs for graphics capabilities.
It boasts a 17-hour battery life and the ability to run demanding software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk.
With that much processing potential, it could also run games such as Forza Motorsport 7 or Gears of War at 1080p, 60fps.
The Surface Book 2 will be available in 13.5in or 15in options and is now on sale at all Surface authorised retailers.
The price for a 13.5in Surface Book 2 ranges from RM6,899 to RM13,399.
The former is an Intel Core i5 system with a 256GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and Intel HD Graphics; while the latter has an Intel Core i7 processor, a 1TB SSD, 16GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU.
Topping off the lineup is the 15in model of the Surface Book 2 with its price of between RM10,799 and RM14,199.
All configurations in this line has an Intel Core i7 processor 16GB of RAM, and Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 GPU. However, the storage options ranges from 256GB SSD, up to 1TB SSD.
For those who prefer something sleeker, there is the Surface Laptop.
Fitted with a 7th generation Intel Core processor and up to 14.5 hours of battery life, the 1.25kg and 14.5mm thin device is portable, lightweight, and is designed for productivity.
A feature touted on the Surface Laptop is the Alcantara covered keyboard. The fabric-like proprietary material makes typing on the device feels unique.
Prices for the Surface Laptop ranges from RM4,499 for a model that is fitted with an Intel Core i5 processor, 128GB of solid state storage, 4GB o f memory, and Intel HD Graphics 620; to a RM12,399 model with Intel Core i7, 1TB SSD, 16GB of RAM, and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640.
The Surface Laptop is now available at all local Surface authorised retailers.
