Public tip-off leads to seizure of 52 firearms: Kelantan police

KOTA BARU: Public cooperation in providing information led to the seizure of 52 firearms in Kelantan over the past three years, said State deputy police chief Datuk Din Ahmad.
He said this showed that the information obtained from the public were crucial in the initial stage of crime prevention.
"The criminals are in the community. As such, we need help from the public for tip-off and assistance in solving crimes," he told reporters after the state-level 211th Police Day celebration at the Kelantan police contingent headquarters here today.
In ALOR STAR, Kedah police chief Datuk Zainal Abidin Kasim said fighting drug abuse had been the main focus of the state police in view of the increase in the number of new drug addicts.
"We will focus on school children following the involvement of a 13-year-old who was found to be a drug addict," he told reporters after the 211th Police Day celebration at the Kedah police contingent headquarters here today.
Meanwhile, in SEREMBAN, Negri Sembilan deputy police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun urged members of the public to come forward and channel information on cyber crimes to facilitate action by the police. — Bernama
