Fresh faces to stand as candidates in Penang

BUTTERWORTH: DAP is believed to be willing to put up to eight fresh faces to stand as candidates in Penang for the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).
This includes a few seats on the mainland of Penang where DAP had won with big majorities in the last election.
Party insiders have revealed that a major shake up looms and some incumbents will be dropped to make way for a new generation of young leaders.
One of the name being mentioned was the present Seberang Prai Municipal Council's councillor P. David Marshel who was being lined up to contest in either the Bagan Dalam state or Batu Kawan parliamentary seats.
Marshel who had served five terms as councillor also holds a party position at parliamentary level as Organisation Secretary of DAP Batu Kawan.
Known for his work as party activist and as councillor in MPSP, he was also the voice for the marginalised group as well as a hard crusader against the sales of cheap booze.
When met, Marshel keep his lips tight when he was asked by theSun wether the rumors of him contesting in one of the constituency inn mainland is true.
"If the party leadership thinks I can deliver,why not ,I am ready", he said.
He however said it's all up to the party in naming the best candidate to stands for the party in GE14.
Another name crops up to be name as candidate is DAP member M. Satees who is is also a five term councillor with MPSP.
Satees ,32 was also another young grassroots member who is a fierce critic against Barisan Nasional (BN).
Together with Marshel , Satees is also a vallant knight in the crusade against cheap liquor among the Indians in Seberang Prai.
He was said to have been groomed by DAP deputy secretary - general P. Ramasamy for future challenges.
When contacted Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the party will announce their candidates after the dissolution of Parliament.
