KUALA LUMPUR: The police have warned that action would be taken should the Bersih participants, who are gathered here at Tugu Negara, march towards Parliament to submit a memorandum against the Election Commission's (EC) redelineation report.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Shaharuddin Abdullah said the police would only allow six representatives to submit the said memorandum, and that others would only be allowed to stay put at Tugu Negara.
"The police will facilitate the gathering but we will not allow you to march to Parliament.
"If you march, I will take action. If you gather here it's okay. If you don't want to listen to my advice I will take action. Very simple.
"I'll only allow six people to march to Parliament (to send the memorandum). No 4x4 vehicle, no loudspeakers," he told Suaram executive director Sevan Doraisamy, here, today.
Later when speaking to the press, Shaharuddin said the police had not received any application from Bersih to conduct the gathering, and that they would have allowed it to go on if there was one.
On whether police would make immediate arrest, he said: "It depends. The discretion is up to me."
"We are just doing our duties. We won't allow any activities which are against the law," he stressed.
Pakatan Harapan president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Former Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah also made a surprise appearance at the gathering.
At least 150 Bersih supporters in yellow are gathered here, while police presence is also heavy both at Tugu Negara and in front of Parliament.
