Caught fugitive back at scene of crime 38 years later

PETALING JAYA: A 63-year-old suspect dressed in striking red polo shirt and black shorts with turned heads as he was escorted by police to the scene of a crime that took place 38 years ago.
The Malaysian, who had restraints strapped to his wrists and ankles, was taken to Tanjong Katong Road in Singapore by the island republic's police yesterday.
Hewas only 25 years old when two police officers in Singapore allegedly found him in possession of a pistol on Oct 3, 1980.
He allegedly evaded arrest and left Singapore. He was found in Penang on March 22, with the assistance of their Malaysian counterparts, and was extradited to the island republic the next day.
The suspect is being remanded at Central Police Division and be back in court on April 2. If convicted, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
