Mimi Fly returns with single 'Superfly' after divorce

KUALA LUMPUR: Having gone through a divorce with her ex-husband does not deter Mimi Fly from continuing to add colours to the local music industry.
In fact, the lead vocalist of One Nation Emcees (ONE) uses her broken heart and sorrow to produce the latest singles, entitled 'Superfly'.
Mimi or her real name Shamimi Amalina Norhisham, 31, said Superfly was all about her ups and downs after having divorced with Mohd Firdaus Hajar, last Dec.
"The song describes me starting a new life after the divorce and how I seek self-confidence in the pursuit of something desired in life.
"It is hoped that the song, which incorporates dance music elements, will inspire the listeners," she said after appearing as a guest of Bernama News Channel's Nine11 programme here today.
The singles also saw the works of several famous composers such as Audi Mok, Omar K and Shazee Ishak.
Mimi, who is also dubbed as Malaysia's Rihanna, said fans could watch the music video of the singles on YouTube, as well as listen and download it through JOOX, iTunes, Spotify, Yonder and Deezer mobile music applications.
To date, the Superfly music video received over 163,000 views since it was uploaded on March 16 and had been bombarded with positive comments from netizens.
Meanwhile, the singer, who made her debut in the industry with ONE after winning a reality television show about 10 years ago, denied the allegations that she decided to go solo after the group was disbanded.
Mimi said the group – which comprised Mohamed Fareezan Mohamed Murtaza (Kozae), Mohd Norzaidi Edris (Zydee) and Nur Hasan Baias (Jojoe) – was still together but the members decided to take a break for a while to give room for personal commitment.
"We have never broken up and I personally would not allow that to happen. Our relationship is still normal and they are like my brothers. They were very positive when I mentioned about going solo.
"In fact, I might even be working with them to produce my own singles in future," she added. — Bernama
