The matter is enshrined under Section 27A of the Fire Services (Amendment) Bill 2018 which was tabled for first reading in the Dewan Rakyat today.
It was tabled by Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar to amend the Fire Services Act 1988.
The new section is aimed at enhancing fire safety at designated premises.
The Bill, among others, aimed at including new provisions relating to volunteer fire officers, establishment of the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Force as well as increasing provisions on enforcement and offences.
Later, at a press conference, Noh said the amendments would also further enhance the role of the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Force. — Bernama
