PUTRAJAYA: The ongoing tussle for seats between Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties for the upcoming 14th General Election is just a matter of perception, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
"Who says there are tussles for seats? I can say for sure that Barisan Nasional does not have that situation.
"If it is among the Opposition, I can't really tell but surely there is disarray among their parties DAP, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), PKR but BN as far as I am concerned does not have any issues," he told reporters after officiating the 'Kad Ceria' carnival held at the Dataran Putrajaya, here, today.
Tengku Adnan who is also BN secretary-general said its component parties are always compliant and acceptive of any decision taken by the coalition's leadership.
"It is simple, BN knows how to overcome the issue involving seat allocations. If we are confident that they can win, we will give them the seat.
"If they cannot win why do they even demand for seats to contest. These matters can be easily sorted out between among BN component parties," he said adding that BN operates on a general consensus whereby all parties must agree to a certain decision.
His comments came after Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, yesterday, had reminded BN component parties to continue its practice of tolerance and compromise as the 14th General Election looms.
He described BN's unity for the Tapah parliamentary seat as the model of success for the ruling coalition during elections.
Tapah's parliamentary seat is presently held by MIC's Datuk Seri M. Saravanan while two state seats under it, Chenderiang and Air Kuning is currently held by Perak MCA chief Datuk Mah Hang Soon and Tapah BN chairman Datuk Samsudin Abu Hassan.
