SHAH ALAM: The killer of 15-year-old Ng Yuk Tim after a Cosplay date gone wrong was sentenced to the gallows by the High Court here today.
Poon Wai Hong, 25, was sentenced to death under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murdering Cosplay enthusiast Yuk Tim, 15.
Yuk Tim was murdered and her body was found stuffed in a luggage bag on Oct 22, 2013.
High Court judge Datuk Mohd Azman Husin delivered the verdict saying that the defence had failed to prove reasonable doubt in the case.
"The accused's action of putting the body in a luggage bag and discarding it showed that he had the intention to murder her. The accused's defence statements are not concurrent with the postmortem report," Azman said when delivering the verdict.
Throughout the trial, 13 prosecution and one defence witness were called to testify.
It was revealed in court that the accused had intended to have sex with the victim but a friend had interrupted the duo causing him to go out.
When he came back, the girl did not want to have sex anymore, causing the two to fight.
Poon had claimed in the argument she fell and hit her head on a dumbbell and died.
However his claims were not consistent with the postmortem report.
Poon was represented by Datuk Rajpal Singh.
He was accused of murdering the girl at a house at Kampung Cempaka in Kelana Jaya between 3pm and 4pm on Oct 21, 2013.
The girl was believed to have gone to the suspect's house the previous day to get help with some cosplay costumes.
The suspect initially claimed that he had dropped her off at the Kelana Jaya LRT station at about 3.30pm the same day.
However he later confessed that the two had argued.
After being handed over to the Petaling Jaya police, he led them to a body, believed to be that of Yuk Tim, which was stuffed in a suitcase near Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam.
