GEORGE TOWN: Maverick Penang DAP lawmaker Teh Yee Cheu (pix) has now officially left the party after Parliament today.
The two-term Tanjung Bungah assemblyman kept to his words made by stating he will quit the party once the 14th General Election was called.
"It's effective today," he said in reference to his leaving the party. Teh also revealed his quitting on his social media account posting at noon.
"Automatically, today, April 7 2018, the date parliment officially to be dissolved, is the date I quit DAP… for good as I announced it months ago," he posted on his social media account.
When asked if he would contest the polls, Teh said: "A press conference will be held tomorrow (Sunday)."
Teh had been at loggerheads with the Penang government especially with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over environmental issues and the limiting of the chief minister's post to two term issues.
