Malacca presents letter on state assembly's dissolution to EC

MALACCA: Malacca State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Othman Muhamad today presented the letter on dissolution of the state assembly to the Malacca Election Commission (EC) director Haelmy Mohd Hanifah.
The ceremony to present the letter on the dissolution of the state assembly to enable the 14th General Election (GE14) to be held simultaneously at the parliamentary and state levels was witnessed by Malacca Chief Minister and Malacca Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
The letter on the dissolution of the Malacca state assembly was signed by Malacca Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Khalil Yaakob.
Malacca has 28 state seats and six Parliamentary seats. In GE13, the BN formed the state government after winning 21 seats, while DAP won six seats and PAS one seat.
Meanwhile Idris said following the dissolution of the state assembly, the chief minister and state executive councillors would continue to discharge their duties and responsibilities as an interim government to administer the state. — Bernama
