BUTTERWORTH: Makkal Sakti Malaysia has lodged four police reports against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for allegedly uttering the word 'keling' in a speech recently, which many see as a derogatory term referring to Indians.
Its president, Datuk Seri R. S. Thanenthiran said the term used by the former prime minister smacked of racism and should not have been uttered by a former leader who was fully aware of the multi-racial nature of the country's population.
"He uttered the word two days after the launch of Pakatan Harapan's manifesto and until today, he has not apologised to the Indian community. This has really hurt our feelings," he told a press conference held outside the Butterworth police station here today.
He urged Dr Mahathir to make a public apology and hoped the police would take action against Dr Mahathir. — Bernama
