JOHOR BARU: Pulai Member of Parliament Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed (pix) has described the opposition's strategy of placing 'nomadic' candidates to contest in the 14th General Election as 'haphazard' and did not have any clear direction except fooling the people.
He said the action clearly showed that the opposition was not committed to serve the people in the constituency they were offering their candidacy to be people's elected representatives.
"I see the opposition's campaign this time around is haphazard as they can't place a candidate in any one place because they are forced to use a small number of candidates to contest in two places.
"This only to show that they don't have enough candidates with high calibre who can contest anywhere. For example in, Pulai, there was a rumour that Salahuddin Ayub has moved to contest in other constituency, and he has always been contesting in Pulai (parliamentary seat) but now has additional constituency to contest, the Simpang Jeram state seat," he told reporters after a get together with Johor Customs Department personnel in Taman Melati, here, today.
He added that the 'haphazard strategy' also did not receive much response and would not result in a 'tsunami' in the 14th General Election as the people wanted a stable government to safeguard the nation.
Nur Jazlan, who is also Deputy Home Minister, said he was confident the people would be choosing the "blue" (Barisan Nasional) and hoped the voters would not vote for nomadic candidates who did not care about the people but were more of self-serving.
He added that the people should also be more cautious ahead of the election because the opposition would use various ways to influence the people especially through false news.
At the event, Nur Jazlan also announced an allocation of RM50,000 to improve the Customs department staff quarters in Taman Melati. — Bernama
