Police identify 1,131 'potential trouble-makers' during GE14: IGP

KUALA TERENGGANU: The police have identified 1,131 'potential trouble-makers' nationwide with potential to create chaos during the 14th General Election (GE14), according to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
Out of 171 locations in the country which had been identified as 'hotspots' for the GE14, he said 31 were in Terengganu.
"All of them are now under the police surveillance. We do not want to incite fear or threaten anyone but we want to ensure that those with potential to create chaos will not cause problem during the electoral process," he added.
Mohd Fuzi was speaking to reporters after the appreciation ceremony with Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman, in conjunction with the 211th Police Day celebration, here today.
Also present was Terengganu police chief, Datuk Aidi Ismail.

Mohamad Fuzi said 25% of 3,500 police personnel in the state would be deployed to ensure the smooth running of the election.
"We have prepared two teams each from the Federal Reserve Unit and Public Order Riot Unit to ensure public safety during the election," he added. — Bernama
