KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) will stick to its decision to field a Sabah United Party (PBS) candidate for the Matunggong state seat in the 14th General Election (GE-14), Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said today.
"I have referred to BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and the thing he mentioned in relation to the 'borrowing' of seats, is just a proposal from certain quarters.
"After getting clarification, the allocation of seats between component parties in Sabah remains status quo," he said in a statement here.
According to Musa, who is also the State BN chairman, the position and role of each component party in the BN component should be respected and recognised.
"This is the stand of BN Sabah, and this is also what I hold on to as Umno Sabah chief," he said.
On Monday (April 9), the Deputy Prime Minister said a 'formula' was needed to raise the BN majority vote in the Kota Marudu parliamentary constituency by recapturing the state seat of Matunggong, one of the possibilities being a proposal for PBS to 'lend' the seat to Umno. — Bernama
