KUALA LUMPUR: Police on Wednesday arrested three individuals, including a woman, who impersonated as police officers to assault and rob a victim here.
In the 3am incident on March 15, the victim was approached by the three individuals pretending to be cops.
Sentul district police chief ACP R. Munusamy said the trio initially questioned the victim about a "drug-related matter" at his house at Kampung Kasipillay in Sentul here.
"The so-called 'cops' accused the victim of keeping drugs in his house. The suspects then conducted an unauthorised search in the victim's house," he said yesterday.
Munusamy said the trio suddenly turned violent and started to kick, punch, slap and assault the victim.
"The suspects then brought the victim to a hotel at Jalan Ipoh. In the hotel, the suspects snatched the victim's personal belongings and documents.
"They also took his ATM card and withdrew his savings from his bank account," added Munusamy.
Following the incident, a CID team from the Sentul district police headquarters raided a condominium unit along Jalan Ipoh here at 9.30pm and detained two men aged 34 and 38.
"The investigators seized a police badge, a shirt and a cap used on the day of the assault and robbery," he said.
Police have also identified two drug cases committed by the two men.
The woman was arrested on Wednesday at a food court along Persiaran Kewajipan in Subang Jaya.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery and Section 170 of the similar code for impersonating as a public servant.
