GE14: Perak police detect 23 hot spots

SELAMA: The Perak police have identified 23 hot spots and 440 individuals who have the potential of bringing chaos in the run-up to the coming 14th General Election (GE14).
State police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said of the total, four areas were considered to be the 'hottest spots' and 43 people including supporters of political parties were targeted by the police for close monitoring.
He said 90% of 8,709 state police personnel would be deployed statewide to maintain peace and order during GE14.
"We will also be assisted by 700 additional personnel from Bukit Aman," he told a press conference after attending the Perak police contingent monthly assembly and witnessing the handing-over of duties ceremony of the Selama police chief here today.
In this regard, he advised potential candidates and agents to always comply with the laws and regulations.
"We will not compromise with any party and will act firmly against those who commit offences," he said.
Former adjutant of the Kulim General Operations Force's (GOF) 2nd Battalion DSP Mohd Sabri Saad, 44, is the new Selama police chief replacing DSP Loo Lian Lay, 60, who will retire on Sunday. — Bernama
