HSS Engineers unit appointed independent consultant engineer for MRT 3 with RM289.89m contract

    PETALING JAYA: HSS Engineers Bhd's (HEB) unit has been appointed as the independent consultant engineer (ICE) for the Line 3 of the Mass Rapid Transit project (MRT 3) with a contract value of RM289.89 million.
    HSS told Bursa Malaysia that its associate company HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd had on April 12 accepted a letter of appointment dated March 26 from MRT Corp Sdn Bhd.
    The contract commenced on March 6 and is expected to be completed in 2026.
    HEB expects the contract to contribute positively to its revenue, earnings and net assets for the financial years ending December 31, 2018 to December 31, 2026.  
    "The contract reflects MRT Corp's confidence in our ability to undertake an ICE role in light of our performance for MRT 2 and MRT 1. This shows the progress we have made, and our intention to keep growing from strength to strength and continue to contribute towards the nation's infrastructure plans," said HEB executive vice chairman Tan Sri Kuna Sittampalam in a statement.
    This contract win brings HEB's current unbilled order book to RM962.5 million, inclusive of projects from newly-acquired SMHB Engineering Sdn Bhd.
    At 12.30pm, HEB shares gained 7 sen or 4.8% to RM1.54 on some 472,500 shares done.
